2017 Spring Singles League

What – Many of you have expressed the desire to play singles. In response to your request and with the weather finally improving, I would like to introduce the 2017 Spring Singles League. This is a round robin match format of singles play, culminating with a season ending championship playoff at Davie Tennis Stadium.

When – Round Robin play will start the week of April 16, 2017 and conclude the Week of May 21, 2017

Format:

Players will be placed in round robin groups of four.

Players will play two matches against each player in their group during the course of the season.

At the end of the season semi-final matches will be scheduled for all players based on their position in their round robin flight.

Finals will be held at Davie Tennis Stadium on Saturday June 10, 2017 times to be determined.

Rules:

All matches will be two out of three sets with tie-break at 6-6 all and no-ad scoring.

Hosting player will provide balls for match and must record the results/scores on the website with the opponent confirming after match has been recorded.

Players are scheduled to play one singles match a week. Schedule will be posted at the TopDog MTS website. Date, place and time of play will be arranged by the players. I will also have two courts available for play in the late afternoons on Saturday and Sunday at The MLK middle school courts in Berkeley. I only ask that players notify me if they wish to reserve time on those days for play.

Points will be awarded for each match won and each game won by both winner and looser of match.

At the end of round robin play the top scoring players of each group will each other. Second place finishers will play each other, third place and fourth place will also play each other. If we have four groups, a semi-final and final match will be played to determine winner of RR.

Prizes will be awarded to all participants.
